Husesolar is developing a project to implement and study the cultivation of Jatropha curcas (originating in the subtropics) in Valencia. His goal is to determine their viability in our country, and later industrialization and market the seed to produce biodiesel.
The Jatropha’s planting developed by Husesolar is located in the city of Valencia in Villar del Arzobispo, has an area of 1.5 hectares and has more than 800 plants from countries like Ghana, Ivory Coast, Botswana, India and Malaysia.
Jatropha curcas is a plant that grows relatively fast for the weather, in between three and six years old and lives more than 30, during which produces seeds with an oil content of between 28 and 36 percent, and 60 percent with no shell.
The Jatropha’s choice and the development of this project in Valencia in response to a series of attractive advantages that make the cultivation of this plant, as well as accommodate any type of soil, water requires little maintenance, produces oil expensive fuel that replaces petroleum diesel, can generate employment among small landowners and also the shell of the fruit serves as food for animals.
